What a week. In December, I wrote why we believe 2013 will be the year that “Big Data” crosses the chasm from the tech-savvy early adopters into the more mainstream business audience. This week we’re very humbled to have gotten what I believe to be two initial validations of our prediction.
First, we are extremely honored to be included in Fast Company’s Top 100 most innovative companies and Top 10 most innovative Big Data companies list. When you look at who’s included, you’ll notice the list is very use-case oriented, it’s about what you can do with big data, not the deep tech behind it. There’s no technical talk – Hadoop isn’t even mentioned once.
Second, we’re extremely proud that the editors and contributors at CIO UK have included Datameer in their list of 20 vendors to watch in 2013. What’s exciting is that it’s not just 20 Big Data vendors, it’s 20 vendors for CIOs to watch. Big Data is making its way into the general business fold. We’re included in a list with Apple and Google. Amazing.
We’re on our way to crossing the chasm. And to think… it’s only February.
